Text to Columns

Modified on Thu, Dec 4, 2025 at 1:23 PM

You can divide up a string of text in a cell into many by using spaces, tabs, commas, colons, or other characters.

You can treat multiple separators that are placed together as one separator if you select Treat Consecutive Separators as One.

To divide text with comma

  1. Select the cells to divide the text and click Data-Text to Columns.
In this example, select a cell with comma (e.g.: 500, 1000).
  2. In the Text to Columns dialog box, select Comma under Separator and click OK.
  3. The text that was contained in a single cell will be divided into multiple cells separated by the separator.
